Intern at Big Nice
Big Nice Studio is excited to announce our new internship program! Our mission is to work with clients who want to experience a comfortable and unpretentious approach to recording combined with the experience and equipment of a professional studio. We strive to provide affordable and accessible rates for projects of all shapes and sizes.
The goal of our internship program is to create an intensive, hands-on experience. We are seeking driven, self-sufficient, creative, responsible applicants who are excited for the opportunity to work in a dynamic recording studio environment. In compensation for their hard work, our interns will be given a small stipend and access to the studio for personal projects on off-hours. Upon completion of the program, after 4 to 6 months, our interns should have the skills necessary to run full recording sessions independently.
Applicants should have the following attributes:
Excited, curious, humble, innovative
Responsible, professional, punctual, alert, self-motivated
Must be a proficient musician, engaged with current music trends
Experience with home recording, basic understanding of signal flow, mic placement, etc
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Own or have access to a copy of Pro Tools
Ability to follow complicated directions
Ability to take initiative, find work that needs to be done, improve surroundings
Readiness to bring fresh ideas to the table
Be able to lift heavy equipment (30+ lbs)
Have a valid license, access to a vehicle, and live within an hour drive of the studio
Flexible schedule with both weekend and weekday availability
Positive attitude and good sense of humor
Responsibilities include:
Setup and breakdown of recording sessions, including running cables, moving gobos, placing microphones, and setting up Pro Tools sessions
General studio cleaning and gear maintenance
Accommodating needs of engineers and clients (food/coffee runs)
Regularly capturing interesting content and posting to an intern blog
Working on various rotating projects around the studio
Bringing creative fresh ideas to the studio culture
Work a minimum of 30 hours a month in studio
